Sometimes it seems like the little things that turn into big things (the proverbial moutain and the molehill) and these can turn into momentous planning of Mt. Everest proportions. Take for example planning for computer lab–there’s 26 of them and one of you. What do you do?
==> Scholastic has a great computer lab site for teachers. Set up in the format of a wheel that you turn, students can click activities that review what you’ve done in class. If you want this site bookmarked, let me know, and I can send in a HelpDesk ticket.
==>Have students go on a Virtual Field Trip. Instead of heading out on a field trip, take one from the lab/classroom! An example of a great site is Walter McKenzie who has trips already planned, or Vicki Blackwell has a site as well. Let me meet with you in my office or your room and we can plan one to meet your SOL needs.
==>Have students make a slide show on KidPix and make a slide show to show understanding of the vocabulary words for the week.
==>Kidspiration 3 has been overhauled and has great templates. While you model on the data projector, students can work with the virtual manipulatives on a template.
==>If you are at John Tyler, students can prepare for SOL testing on PracticePlanet. We have a site license for it
==>Plan a time to meet with me and we can discuss the endless possibilities. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please share!
