You, the ITRT/TRT, and These Current Economic Times

Posted by: Brian | October 20, 2008 |

Has the economic crisis affected your ability to provide materials for your students? Is it difficult to arrange field trips? Workbooks out of the question? Resource books priced out of range? A TRT/ITRT can suggest a multitude of things that are FREE!

RESOURCES
Tammy Worcester has a WEALTH of goodies and materials that are user friendly, simple, but profound. For example, have your students go on a Scavenger Hunt and write about themselves (biography SOL? Writing SOL?) in a unique way. Students bored with making graphs, or you want something different? Do your students need to write a persuasion speech/paper, and make a rough draft?

Teacher Created Materials have a lot of freebies, lesson plans, and they also have samples from their books that you can look at before buying (ever buy something that didn’t meet your needs?).

Don’t have the funds for purchasing newspapers for your classroom? Go online. For example, if you’re teaching about weather, they have a great weather page!

Tired of buying a whole book for just one activity? Go to resource pages.

Wish you could take your class on a really cool field trip for free? Take them to China!

Need to spark your students’ enthusiasm and perk them up? How about podcasting?

Have you any suggestions? Feel free to comment above!
