Today we have a Nystrom Desk Atlas to give away.  This will be for any grade level, so the first Portsmouth teacher to leave a comment gets it!  It has great maps, charts, and graphs in it and would be a good resource to have in your room.

We still have one geography book for a 6th grade teacher from yesterday’s giveaway.

The Jamestown Yorktown Foundation has announced their summer institute for 2010.  The institute will take place from July 11-16 at the Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Victory Center.  Materials, hotel, meals, and a transportation stipend are provided.  Applications can be found at http://historyisfun.org/teacher-institute.cfm.  They are due March 1, 2010.

We had two teachers participate in this seminar this past summer, and both spoke very highly of it.  We hope you apply!

Sarah and I are in the Christmas spirit, and have decided to have a 12 days of Christmas giveaway.  Starting today (and everyday through the last day before break!) we’ll have something to give away on the blog.  We’ll try to cover a wide range of grade levels/subjects, so even if you’re middle or high school we’ll try to have something for you.

Today we have an information and activities booklet on the VA General Assembly.  It’s a set of 6, and could be used for a station or for small group work.  The book has passages, charts, trivia, games, etc.

So if you’re a 4th grade Portsmouth teacher and you’re the first one to leave us a comment, we’ll pony the booklets to you.

Don’t forget to check back everyday between now and break for more giveaways!
