Do you have a section with the various Virginia maps we use?
September 2nd, 2008 at 9:06 am
Not yet, but it’s something I’ll work on!

Can you email me a copy of the QAD questions that isn’t read only so that I can paste the questions and graphics into the ppts I use to teach with? I need the graphics and it is easier to copy them off of the document you created than to search for them.
This site is great-thanks for your hard work!!

Is the 4th grade pacing guide made for the 08-09 calendar?
October 10th, 2008 at 7:29 am
It is. I uploaded the wrong pacing guide, thank you for noticing. I’ve fixed it now and the 08-09 pacing guide is up there. Sorry!

You have a wonderful blog!!! How do I show the power points on this blog to the class? Do I have to show them from your screen or can I save them somehow?
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello! I am a 4th grade teacher in Salem, VA. I was wondering if the graphics on your foldables were copywrited, or if I might be able to use some? I am planning to do a project with VA History using PhotoStory where the students give a summary of the bullets for VS2-VS7 using pictures. They will also be able to record their voices to describe the pictures. I’m having trouble finding the maps and some graphics. Please let me know if I am able to use some of the graphics you have published here. I’ll be happy to provide a link to the project so you can see how the graphics are used. Thank you!

Several weeks ago, Lani Anderson and I attended the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Summer Teacher Institute, and it was amazing!!! We were treated like royalty, and everything we needed was at our fingertips. We attended lectures on the Virginia Indians, Indentured Servitute, Slavery, and others. We went on tours of both the Jamestown and Yorktown historical sites and museums. The highlight of the week for me was becoming an actual costumed interpreter on site at the Jamestown Settlement. This was one of those teacher changing/life changing experiences and I would highly recommend it to ANY teacher of social studies. The institute for next year has already been funded, so look for the application information! The only money I spent from my pocket was the money I spent in the gift shop, and there was even a discount for that!!

Thank you for making my job a lot easier this year. Lisa. I have been given the opportunity to teach Virginia Studies again and I have found this web site to be most helpful.
Thanks also go out to Sarah for supplying me with power points to help with teaching. You guys are the greatest! Now, I need to know if there is a time line of events for Virginia Studies. If so, where can I find it?
